What is a plant based diet?

A plant-based diet or plant rich diet is a diet consisting mostly or entirely of plant-based foods. Plant-based foods are derived from plants with no animal source foods or artificial ingredients. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans/legumes, seeds, and nuts are full of fiber, rich in vitamins and minerals, free of cholesterol, low in calories and saturated fats.

There are years of scientific evidence that many chronic diseases can be prevented, controlled, or even reversed with a whole-food, plant-based diet. A 2019 study from the Journal of the American Heart Association found that middle aged adults who ate diets high in healthful plant foods and low in animal products had a lower risk of heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, eating less meat can also reduce the risk of:

• stroke
• high blood pressure
• high cholesterol
• certain cancers
• type 2 diabetes
• obesity

This personal informational session includes an introductory discussion, time for questions, and a take home packet of resources for your research in determining how a plant based lifestyle can improve your health. We will also discuss the 6 pillar foundation of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s recommendation for optimal health.

Follow up sessions available including private consultations, personal grocery shopping, home pantry reset, phone and text support.

Yoga is a mind and body practice. It involves movement, meditation, and breathing techniques to promote mental and physical well-being. There are several types of yoga and many disciplines within the practice.

The fundamental purpose of yoga is to foster harmony in the body, mind, and environment. Yoga professes a complete system of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development.

We offer individual private yoga sessions at this time. Eventually we will have partner sessions and group classes.

These private sessions will focus on each individual’s needs and requests to establish a yoga practice that works in their body. All bodies are different. But, yoga is also for all bodies. It’s fluid, fulfilling, calming, strengthening, soul building, and life changing. It makes one a better person simply from the practice.
